Mbin Ndem Peace Sanctuary
Who We Are
Mbin Ndem Peace Sanctuary is a faith-rooted, nature-based sanctuary established as a place of prayer, reflection, family re-education, and stewardship. Conceived as a sacred forest, the Sanctuary offers a setting where individuals and families are invited to slow down, reflect deeply, and reconnect with God, creation, and responsibility.
In the Nweh (Bangwas) dialect, Mbin means Forest and Ndem means God. Together, Mbin Ndem means “God’s Forest.” This meaning shapes both the spirit and purpose of the Sanctuary.
Vision and Origin
Mbin Ndem was conceived from a single vision rooted in faith, family, and a long-term commitment to peace and responsibility. From its beginning, the Sanctuary was imagined not as an abstract idea, but as a living place—grounded in land, order, and continuity.
The project reflects a belief that inner formation and practical responsibility must grow together, and that peace is sustained not only through reflection, but through disciplined living and care for what has been entrusted.
From this foundation also emerged practical initiatives, including the Mbin Ndem Farms Project, which extends the Sanctuary’s values into vocational training, food cultivation, and responsible use of land.
Location
Mbin Ndem Peace Sanctuary is located in Mile 14, also known as Dibanda, in Buea, within the South West Region of Cameroon, Central Africa. The Sanctuary is situated in a forested environment that supports reflection, learning, and long-term stewardship of land and community.
The Land and Its Order
Mbin Ndem is established on clearly demarcated land with organized access routes and defined spaces. Roads, plots, and boundaries were intentionally created to ensure protection, accessibility, and long-term stewardship.
This physical order reflects the Sanctuary’s deeper values: clarity, responsibility, permanence, and respect for both people and land. The site is designed to endure—protected from encroachment and preserved for future generations.
Sanctuary and Stewardship
At the heart of Mbin Ndem is the conviction that spiritual reflection must lead to responsible action. The Sanctuary provides space for prayer, silence, and moral formation, guiding individuals toward peace, clarity, and accountability.
Stewardship at Mbin Ndem means caring for what has been entrusted—life, land, family, and responsibility—not as ownership, but as guardianship. What is received inwardly is expected to shape how one lives outwardly.
Formation and Livelihood
While Mbin Ndem Peace Sanctuary centers on prayer, reflection, and moral formation, its vision extends into practical responsibility through the Mbin Ndem Farms Project.
The Farms Project provides vocational and agricultural training that equips individuals and families to grow food, build resilience, and respond to poverty and unemployment through disciplined work and stewardship of the land. In this way, formation received through reflection is translated into skills, livelihood, and service.
A Place for Continuity
Mbin Ndem Peace Sanctuary is not intended as a temporary project or a one-time experience. It is a place established for continuity—of faith, land, values, and responsibility—so that what is received today can be protected, practiced, and passed on with integrity.
